How Hugo works all depends on your coverage plan.
If you have a Basic Plan:
Our Hugo Basic plan is a standard, 6-month liability policy – with flexible payments. When you sign up, your first payment can cover just a few days of your policy.* This helps you get on the road without a big upfront cost.
After that, you choose how to continue paying for your policy based on what's best for your budget.
You'll always get to choose how you’d like to pay – either at your own pace or by turning on Auto Reload. If you choose to pay at your own pace, you’ll add more money to your Hugo account at any time. If instead you turn on Auto Reload, we’ll go ahead and charge your card on schedule.
Once you set your payment plan and complete check out, you're all set! We’ll take your daily rate out of your Hugo account every day that your coverage is active so long as your Hugo account is topped up.
If money is tight and you can’t pay your insurance, you can request a policy cancellation at any time. If you need to keep coverage active, Hugo offers a coverage extension.**
Please note, when you cancel your insurance coverage your carrier must report this lapse to your state.
If you have a Full Plan:
Hugo Full is not currently available.
*Minimum purchase requirement varies – applicants can see 3, 7, 14, or 30 days to start.
**Coverage extension is not available in South Carolina. Members in South Carolina who are not able to reload their account by their due date will be granted up to 16 days of grace period. Coverage will remain active during this time, and members are responsible for repaying each day of grace period that they use. After 16 days of grace period, members who are still unable to make a payment will be cancelled for nonpayment.
