When you cancel your policy, your carrier is obligated to notify the DMV of a lapse in insurance coverage.
This notification from your carrier can take place in as little as 24 hours.
For this reason, we recommend members keep their insurance active. If you need to cancel your policy, please know that depending on the state, your daily rate will remain the same for 3 days (we call this "Rate Safe"). After that, a fee will need to be applied and you'll see a slight increase in your daily rate. We'll always ask for your approval if your rate changes.
